Franny retrieved her purse from under the bar and plunked it on top. She fished around inside. “I’ve got my cards right here, ladies. Care for a reading?”
“Oh, I think we’re a little old for that,” I said. “Just pour the wine.”
“Come on, Maya,” Katie urged. “Let’s see what the fates have in store for us. Franny…I mean…wise beautiful gypsy.” Katie giggled.
‘What’ll it be, ladies? Three-card spread? One card tells all? Your love life? Riches? What would you like to know?” Franny shuffled the cards.
“Ooh.” Katie pulled her stool up closer. “I’ll take one card tells all.
“Sure.” I gave in. “I’ll have what she’s having.”
