My Gram loved to bake pies! Baking was actually a part of her daily routine. An apron was just part of her regular attire, it went on every morning as sure as my gramps lacklustre work clothes did.
My Gram had 8 children and 15 grandkids, that’s a lot of honest judges!
Over the years gram must have made thousands of pies. In addition to the many traditional recipes handed down to her from her mother, she would try new recipes passed on from friends and family and even from the early years of the published Chatelaine magazine. However, she always made little adjustments here and there until the pie recipe was just right!
This is why she has cookbooks and cookbooks of handwritten recipes, they are a culmination of many different recipes that have been altered or created by her to create the most impeccable pies you’ll ever taste!
These pie recipes have been handed down through four generations of home baking. From our home to yours, I’m sharing our long-standing family favorites transcribed directly from the original handwritten recipe book that my mom received from her mom.
These impeccable pie recipes are so delectable, it’s near impossible not to go back for thirds!
