There are eight Mayan prophecies. Seven have come to pass. December 21, 2012, the end of the Mayan Long Count Calendar, signaled the advent of the eighth and final prophecy. Nick Jensen, a nerdy but adventurous teenager, discovers on his thirteenth birthday that he may be at the center of the incredible true stories behind the ancient prophecies.
The morning Nick becomes a teenager, he wakes to find his world has changed: he can see into the near future and is able to shift his human form. But he doesn’t know why or how.
Nick, and his best friends, Grace Wind-Walker and AJ Janikowski, embark on a quest to unearth the reasons behind his mysterious newfound powers. Their journey takes them from Lake Michigan’s Eastern shores to the ancient Mayan World and the Sacred World Tree – the gateway that leads to Minoan Crete and the First Civilization.
It soon becomes clear that their ability to interpret the prophecy’s true meaning is key to teens’ survival.
