Can we say HOT! HOT! HOT!
This started off as a trilogy with a story of Flynn and Natalie, but there was such an out pour of requests by her fans to see stories from some of the other characters that between her other three series that she writes under Marie Force she told us it would be a while. She now has two other books out in this series which I will write about as soon as I read them. I have read these books a while back but after I found the other two books that were out I decided to start from the beginning.
This book is very emotional and sexy and funny all in one. It will have you swooning, crying, laughing, and fanning your face through all three books.
Natalie comes to New York to start a career as a teacher right out of college from Nebraska. She has a tragic past that she has put behind her and hoped that she would never have to live another minute of it for the rest of her life. But things don't always go as you plan them.
She was not looking for a man in her life and when she literally ran right into the hottest movie star around because she was chasing her dog she could not believe her eyes. She is mortified when her dog bites him. She apologies to him and the director Hayden (who is also Flynn's best friend). Hayden is raising hell so she tries to get out of there as quick as she can.
She leaves and she hears Flynn calling her but she acts like she doesn't hear him at first. He is running after her because he wants to get to know her even more. She finally stops and he asks her for coffee. She agrees and they go to have a cup of coffee. They talk for a little while and he is getting more and more intrigued with her.
He asks her to dinner that evening and she agrees to go with him. She tells him upfront that under no circumstances will she sleep or have sex with him. She was saving herself for marriage. That was her way to get out of dealing with that stuff that has scarred her for life. He tells her that is fine.
They go to dinner and he does not want the night to end. She feels the same way. He asks her to go with him to the Golden Globe Awards the next weekend. She asks him to let her think about it. After he takes her home he is amped up so instead of going home he goes to the club.
He tells Hayden about his date and he is not happy with Flynn, he and his other friends had to watch what happened to Flynn the last time he tried a relationship outside his lifestyle. It did not go well, and they do not want to see that happen to him again. So he decides it's for the best that he does not see her again.
Natalie is a little upset that Flynn never called again. But she didn't really think he was that interested in her especially after she told him she would not have sex with him. But she was still hopeful none the less. Word got out that she met and went out with Flynn at the school that she teaches at thanks to her best friend and roommate Leigh. One of her favorite students came to her and told her that his mom loved Flynn's movies and Natalie knew that she was suffering from cancer and she told Logan she would see what she could do.
It had been three days since she has seen Flynn but she was going to put that aside for her friend. She sent Flynn a text and told him what was going on and he told her he would be there. She told him she would let him know when after she talked to her.
Flynn was so glad she texted him because he was missing her everyday that he had not heard from her. He decided right then and there that he wanted to get to know her and that she belonged in his life and he was going to do what ever he had to do to keep her there. He didn't know what was going to happen about him and his lifestyle choice and whether he could keep putting it off but he was going to try for her.
After they visited Logan and his family they went to his place for dinner. He told her he was sorry for not calling but he listened to friends over his heart and his gut. They continued to talk and he told her that he told them he was bringing a date and he really wanted her to go. For her to give him at least this weekend before she walked away forever. That after this weekend if she felt like she still wanted to walk away he would let her go and leave her be.
She ended up telling him during one of their times together that she was raped when she was fifteen, but she didn't give him all of the details. He tells her what it is going to be like to be seen with him going to the Golden Globe awards and that if she didn't want them digging into her past that maybe she should not go, she told them there was no way for anyone to find anything if they went to digging the two names are not connected in any way. He told her ok but if she wanted she could stay at his home but she wanted to go.
They were both falling for each other and neither one of them could see leaving the other at the end of the weekend. They go to the Golden Globes and after that things get heated between them and the journalists. They want her story. They stayed holed up to avoid them but that doesn't help.
When she goes back to work the press are everywhere around the school wanting to get her story and wants to know if she was the April from Nebraska who took down the governor. The principal told her that she was fired because she lied on her background check and because the press is disturbing. She doesn't know what is going on but she finds out when the principal tells her what the press is saying.
Flynn gets wind of what has hit the news and he rushes to the school. He knows she is going to be upset. Well, shock is more like it. She can not believe that the only person who knew her secret (her lawyer) sold her out. He takes her to his house and ends up calling a doctor because she does not look good. The doctor tells him she is in shock. When she comes around she tells him that the only other person beside her who knew was her lawyer.
Flynn gets on the phone with his lawyer and tells him what Natalie says and tells him he was the lawyer buried. His lawyer says he is on it. Even though Hayden does not approve of their relationship he starts a hash tag #teamNatalie. Because they do not think it is right what they did about her story. They get an out pouring of support on twitter and the hash tag goes virile.
Flynn is feeling so guilty about what happened because if not for him her secret would still be a secret. She is telling him that is it not his fault that it is the lawyers. They end up getting talked into doing an interview before the next awards show they have to attend. He doesn't want to do it, but she does so he goes with her and he is amazed at the woman she is given all that she had been though. He makes a comment during the interview about them getting married. He was asked if that was a proposal and he said no that when he did it would be private. Even though he had publicly stated that he would never get married again, but he tells them that Natalie has changed that. He tells her she is going to have a ton offers after that show airs. A few days later he takes her for a walk on the beach and proposes to her. She says yes. They decide to get married a few days later in Vegas.
They have a get together with his friends to celebrate their engagement, but his friends are not happy with him. For one, he has not told her about his lifestyle and two, he does not want to have her sigh a prenup. They tell him he is crazy and that he needed to be careful. He has faith in them as a couple and does not want anything standing in the way to make it seem like a business transaction over love.
She is feeling a little better by having her secret out but she does not like the way it was brought about. While she is at the awards she runs into Flynn's ex who tells her things about Flynn that she could not see being true. She lets it go given the source but when she calls her and tells her other things she listens and confronts him about it. She had already given him a chance before to come clean when she found Hayden's playroom, he could have told her then but he didn't then when she ask him out right he lies to her face.
She packs up and leaves. She had found her sisters again after the show aired and they got in touch with her so she decided before she went back to New York she would stop by to see one of her sisters. She is so upset and hurt but she loves Flynn so much. But, there is no way she could stay married to someone who lies to her. Especially after she told him everything that had happened to her.
She spends the afternoon and evening with her sister getting to know her but she is missing Flynn so much. Her sister tells her that she hopes they can work out what ever it is that has them apart right then. She is not sure if they can work through it but she is also not sure if she can live without him. The pain in her heart is very painful.
Flynn is in misery he misses Natalie so much and he knows he screwed up real bad by not telling her. He told her he would give her a week to think about them but she didn't say he had to stay in LA. He flew to NY to be near her. He doesn't know how he is going to be able to last a week without her but one way or another he is going to get her back. She has become his world and he doesn't want to lose that.
Natalie is missing Flynn real bad and since it was snowing pretty bad they had to go to the public airport and someone spotted her. She didn't think anyone would. Now she is glad that Flynn insisted on her bringing security with her. They told her that the school she was working for made a statement to the public that they offered her job back. She can't go to the apartment she used to share with Leigh because it is surrounded with the press.
She has no choice but to go to Flynn's apartment because she can get in without the hassle of dealing with the press. She is missing Flynn more than ever now and when she goes into the apartment there he is looking terrible. He looks like he has not slept since she left. She runs to him and he meets her halfway and they embrace. They have both been miserable and missing the other.
They talk about things and he opens up to her and tells her everything. She is intrigued about his lifestyle and wants to learn more about it. The way he has been talking to her telling her is dreams has gotten her all hot and bothered, but he doesn't want to try anything until they speak to someone to make sure she is going to be ok. She calls her old doctor and he says she should be fine but he wants her to keep weekly sessions for a while. That satisfies him and they start experimenting.
Things are going great. Flynn is even more in love with Nat now that she has accepted him and enjoys what they have been doing. They do a celebratory dinner and exchanging of vows with their friends and family. It is very special to them. They spend a naked week honeymoon together and it has made them even closer. They come home and go the Oscar Awards which all of the group of Quantum win in every category they could.
This is an awesome series and yes there is some D/S going on in these books but it is classy and oh so good. This series is highly recommended.
