Belle Gardner leaves her family to care for a dear friend who is extremely ill. When her home remedies fail to produce a cure for Mrs. Stribling, Belle reluctantly seeks the help of George Jepson, a vilified physician’s apprentice who returned home to Clover Creek in disgrace.
If George Jepson and the doctor who was training him hadn’t been drinking while caring for a patient back east, perhaps they could have saved the lady’s life.
