Sometimes simple tasks can open up opportunities to see things we never even knew were there. Alistaire Pickelwit, still the most peculiar mouse in all of Crystal Falls Hollow, discovers this on another unexpected journey.
His old friends, a raccoon named Wallace Wallington, a woodchuck called Darby Don, and other friends including his new wife—Nataline—decide to help him on a trip to replace the stone jar he uses to collect his drinking water.
New friends are made and hearts are betrayed as the Lord of all Creation—Taleh—shows them another layer of his Kingdom. Alistaire learns more about his family’s history and the reasons why the Pickelwit Clan has been charged with the task of keeping a record of Taleh’s Creation’s groanings.
Passing through the Prophecy Pool they find themselves in strange lands with even stranger creatures, while their evil adversary—Treikhan—continues in his attempts to exert his will over the Kingdom of Taleh.
In the end they discover what it truly means to lay one’s life down for one’s friends.
