In this short horror story, we examine one specific instance of Florida Man’s escapades, with reference to an occurrence that happened in the recent past. Our story begins with a novelization of the very real bail hearing for a man accused of doing the unthinkable – stabbing his brother in the neck for ‘talking over’ food while cooking. What really happened that fateful evening?
This story succinctly examines the United States’ revolving door prison system which seems to primarily target black and brown people. We consider the impoverished conditions much of the country’s citizenry, particularly minorities, are subjected to and how something as trivial as a minor misstep can lead to irrevocable violence. Is Florida Man simply a mirror of our own societal woes, or something more?
