I created Brian with a specific objective in mind: Making a hero that, while he had powers, would be forced by his own nature to become far more than that.
It makes all the difference.
When compared to the standard idea of a “super-hero” Brian Yi seems a little pedestrian, at first. His power is mainly the ability to find horrible crimes and get there before they happen. The rest is up to him, a normal man with no particularly special skills or talents. So, in other words, he’s one of us. A regular person.
He’s not a billionaire playboy, or lost son of a distant alien race, Brian is just a man who doesn’t have a choice, so tries to make everything work as best he can.
The response to this character has been overwhelming, to say the least. There’s just something compelling that resonates with everyone who reads about him.
