Parapsychologist Dr Rachel Collins has been seeking a case study on curses. An opportunity arises when an amusement park manager contacts the department, desperate to know why his business is suddenly being plagued by misfortune. Rides are breaking down, the birdlife is depressed, and an employee has died in a mysterious accident. The manager thinks his park might be cursed.
Rachel starts investigating, along with her somewhat sceptical colleague, Dr Isaac Robertson. Clearly, some very strange things are going on at the park. However, the exact nature of the problem remains unclear. Is it paranormal phenomena, as Rachel believes? Or is it geological issues, as Isaac proposes? Could it even be both?
It’s only when they start digging – in both senses of the word – that they start to find answers. When the truth finally emerges, it goes beyond anything Rachel or Isaac could ever have imagined.
