Allie, is a senior, surrounded by other seniors whose last year of high school is a whirlwind of preparing for college, going to prom, and hanging out with their friends. Unfortunately, Allie’s life is not that simple. Her father had left when she was in elementary school and her mother has since been in a tailspin of bad relationships, unemployment, and alcoholism, pulling Allie down with her. Because of this, Allie finds herself doing everything she can to support her mothers financial and emotional needs. She feels alone in the world and laden with responsibilities, each connected to a key on her key chain. Each key that she carries, there is a lock to be open, except for one. This key is special, different, and the hope is that someday, she would find what it belongs to, and that thing will be something that would change her life forever.Karen Blaisdell lives in Maine where she teaches Middle School Science. She lives with her boyfriend and her furry baby, Seeley the cat. She’s the mother of two beautiful girls who live in Florida who are her inspiration. She enjoys teaching, reading, writing, and horseback riding.
