Gnomes are meant to do as they’re told. They aren’t supposed to become barbarians.
Nanoc isn’t like the other gnomes who serve the Static Empire. He doesn’t like being a clerk class, or filling out forms, or sitting quietly in the corner. When a chance encounter with a magical banana gives him the opportunity of a new life, he becomes the universe’s first and only gnome barbarian, free to wander where he will and do as he pleases — with or without pants. He never has to pick up a pen again.
The only catch? Nanoc has to dedicate his life to uniting the seven pieces of Chaos, the goddess of fire and story, which the other gods have hidden across the world. This is an impossible task for any mortal, especially a level 1 barbarian. Failure — and death — seem inevitable.
But Nanoc reckons that’s still better than paperwork.
Join Nanoc and his party of chaotic good(ish) friends as they travel the land leveling up, winning loot, bickering about berries, and fighting whatever strange magical beasts stand in their way. They’ll face giant toads, possessed lambs, lying trolls, and even the legendary land fish as their search takes them ever closer to freeing Chaos and changing the very fates of the universe itself!
This is a funny litRPG set in a fantasy world filled with gods and games. Chapters are short and punchy and packed with jokes – just like Nanoc.
What readers on Royal Road have said about the previous version:
Bro this is hilarious. I’m binging this whole thing right now. VocabularicVomit
With generous nods to classic comedy bits from Abbott and Costello, Shrek, and probably loads more I missed the references to, the fun wordplay and witty dialogue exchanges really make this story sing. If you’re into that kind of thing, which I am. If you are too, you’re gonna love this one. Mister Hand
Seriously, you will laugh reading this. It was a genuine treat, not at all hard to get through. I really enjoyed reading this. Bananas are dangerous! EmrysAmbrosius
