He’s a terrifying, crimson-skinned Drakar warrior with marbled horns, a lethal tail, and a voice that—thanks to a malfunctioning translator—sounds like a late-night smooth-jazz radio host. To the rest of his brutal, strength-obsessed military base, he’s a disgraced “runt.” But to me? He’s a genius who builds “predictive coddling” robots and over-engineered, heated passenger seats just to make sure I don’t shiver.
To protect me from being incinerated as “contraband” by his ruthless Commander, Vrox claims me as his mate. Now, we’re on the run across the toxic wastes of Kaelen Prime, dodging mechanical panthers and giant sinkhole worms.
Vrox thinks he has to protect me with brute force. But he’s about to learn that brute force doesn’t win wars.
