The Chained Library Conspiracy

On an autumn night in 1999 in the west of England, a rare 14th-century manuscript is purloined from the oldest surviving chained library in existence. In THE CHAINED LIBRARY CONSPIRACY, a security guard is found unconscious on the floor of the library. Was he the inside man or a hapless victim? With no leads and fearful that the ancient text may already have been spirited out of the country, the local constabulary turns to American private eye Woody Meacham, whose success in tracking down rare books thieves is legendary. There’s immediate speculation that a ruthless, shadowy cartel known as the “Art Mafia” orchestrated the heist, operating on behalf of a once-distinguished English family with ties to the library that date back to the Victorian Era. Chasing down leads in London, Milan, Naples, and Washington, D.C., Meacham closes in on a surprising prime suspect as his accomplices disappear and die.
