Simon, grandson of Colonel Greer, hero of the first Committee Wars, has arrived to the Smith Committee and begins his true education. He learns how much he didn’t know. If he hopes to survive and become a part of something larger than himself, he must confront his own self-imposed limitations.
Simon and his friends join premilitary training as part of a new program that teaches young teens to prepare for military service. They are molded, enlightened and shocked by their new understanding of the world and their place in it. Guided every step by their new enigmatic leader, Joseph Youssef.
