“What’s going on?” She whispered to herself as a sense of dread crept up the back of her neck. She spun around, looking everywhere, trying to remember which way she had come from. She didn’t know where she was. She didn’t know why she was still in her pajamas. Her feet hurt, except for her toes which she could not feel at all, and a small trickle of blood ran down her elbow where she had been pricked by a bush. She wanted to run but she did not know where to go. Whatever had been pulling her into the woods had stopped pulling, leaving her scared, miles from home, and all alone.
But she was not alone.
Something was out there. In the trees. In the blood red light. Something was there. It was watching her. Stalking her. Getting closer.
Vega tried to scream.
It was too late.
