Torlach, a young boy from Ériu is abducted from his native land and sold into slavery across the Hibernian Sea. He is rescued by Roman legions and begins his new life as an auxiliary soldier in the Roman army. He grows into a giant of a man, a fearless warrior and respected servant of the empire. His deeds in battle are noted and rewarded. His future looks promising with the Roman XIV legion. Things change, however when he returns to his homeland on a mission to betray his own people.
