After her seventh rejection from Aryndale Academy’s Mystical Mycological Research Program, middle-aged disaster witch Persimmon Midgley-Cobb sets off to prove herself in the elusive Wiled Wood with her tent, foraging supplies, and a staunch determination to find the rarest specimen of all: a faunhead mushroom.

But when the thallus in question proves to be near impossible to collect—and the handsome young creature it’s attached to near impossible to resist—Persimmon must make a choice:
