Sophie loves noodles and wants a favorite dish for her birthday dinner. Both Lulu Lasagna and Tony Macaroni want to be “the chosen one” which provokes a feisty challenge.
The competition starts with a bit of bragging.
“Take a good look at me,” Lulu demands. “I’m tall and thin with curly curves. A bona fide fashion noodle.”
“Yea, yea, yea,” replies Tony. “But who besides you wants to look like a Poodle.”
The kitchen becomes chaotic as the cook-off unfolds.
The Noodles Take Sides. Lulu – always the showoff – picks Mary Louise Mozzarella (aka, The Big Cheese) to join her in the oven. Tony feels threatened, so he summons (who else?) his mother – Mama Mia Macaroni. She’s a noodle guru with an assertive moto: Mama Cook. You Eat!
A Tug of War in Sophie’s Noggin. Lulu and Tony are very persuasive noodles and Sophie loves them both. A creative illustration depicts the conflict in her mind: Lulu tugs a rope in one direction, Tony in another. She mulls it over: “Should I pick the luxurious lasagna or the working person’s mac and cheese?”
Sophie’s Brilliant Choice. A creative thought leaps into her noggin: “Two ‘noodles’ are always better than one. So why fight? Let’s unite.”
Hooray! The choice is made (drum roll please)…BOTH Tony and Lulu are chosen for her very special day. This inclusive action quiets the chaos in the kitchen. Even Nervous Noodle – who fled the kitchen to avoid the food fight – returns to the pantry to applaud her decision.
