The La Paz mapinguari makes its home in the Bolivian rainforest. It is a distinct creature with a giant mouth on it stomach filled with rows of sharp teeth and a large single eye that sits atop its powerful shoulders.
Some do not believe it is real. Others feel it is likely a prehistoric leftover. Still others refer to it as a shocking flashback to the mythology of ancient times.
But for the few who have encountered it, there is no question—it is real and it is ferocious.
The Mapinguari is uniquely built for the steep mountains and thick jungle of the Amazon. It is bigger than a grizzly and similar to a sloth; but the red-furred mapinguari can immobilize you with its putrid stench and rip any adversary to pieces with its enormous claws. And don’t even bother shooting it—you are wasting your ammunition on its impenetrable alligator-like hide.
An animal which tends to lumber along on all fours, the mapinguari, is known to tower around three meters tall when it rears up on its hind legs. And still it has an even bigger, more terrifying shriek, which can thunder above all other sounds in the jungle. And though it is slow—it also moves silently. So you many never hear it coming … until it’s too late. And the mapinguari knows how to swing through the massive trees with its long arms and sway over the hardest rock, so, use great caution if you should have occasion to be in the Bolivian rainforest.
And should you really want to avoid any personsal interaction with the beast altogether, it would be wise to stay near the rivers and lakes because the mapinguari is not keen on bodies of waters. And for that matter the mapinguari does not seem to fancy hoses spraying or pipes leaking either, but no one really wants to get close enough to test that theory.
