She paused in front of the apparatus and swallowed.
The machine actually did look a bit like a horse: an elongated body on four metal legs. Above it, that padded saddle. Monique had bolted the legs firmly to the floor. Only today had Anna realized that beneath the small red carpet in the living room—the one she’d walked across so many times—there were four threaded holes in the floor! Holes into which the legs of this machine had fit exactly. And she understood what that meant. Lilou actually had a permanent fixture in her living room for something like that.
Of course it was none of her business. Still, she couldn’t shake the image of Lilou apparently also sitting on such a strange horse from time to time, being filmed.
The saddle had two openings. Protruding from them were metal rods about two centimeters long, with threads at their tips.
Oh God.
Anna knew exactly what was supposed to be screwed onto those two threads.
The corresponding attachments were already lying on the saddle. Hesitantly, she stepped closer.
