My original interest in wine, other than drinking wine, was piqued when working in San Francisco. A co-worker’s family lived in Sonoma County California just north of the Bay Area. They grew wine. The experience seeing their lifestyle inspired me.
I found local you-pick grape producers and started making wine. My initial efforts were mixed, but I’ve improved. I’ve been making wine ever since, for over 20 years now. Given my wine making efforts, it was a logical next step to me to grow vines and produce wine grapes. Some of my vines are now 20 years old.
This book isn’t a step by step how-too, it is more of a supplement to other references and a record of how I raise wine and what has worked for me. Maybe my experience will be useful to others with the same thoughts I had 20 years ago. Plant a vineyard, make your own wine.
