Is There a Blueprint for the Universe?: a Testable Approach to Reconciling Scientific Observation and Genesis
The origins debate has been raging for over 200 years, partly because no approach thus far proposed by creationists is scientifically testable. This short book describes a new approach to the origins debate: the blueprint approach.Did the Creator leave behind a blueprint of His creation that predates all modern science? Does this blueprint describe the universe with enough detail and accuracy to allow us to compare what it says with what we can observe using scientific instruments, as well as what scientists theorize took place?Does it make predictions about phenomena not yet observed or discovered that can be tested in time, like the predictions of any scientific theory?Read Is There A Blueprint for the Universe? now, and explore these questions while gaining an overview of what the blueprint says. Sufism in the West
With the increasing Muslim diaspora in post-modern Western societies, Sufism – intellectually as well as sociologically – may eventually become Islam itself due to its versatile potential. Although Sufism has always provoked considerable interest in the West, no volume has so far been written which discusses this aspect of Islam in terms of how it is practised in Western societies. Bringing together leading international authorities to survey the history of Islamic mysticism in North America and Europe, this book elaborates the ideas and institutions which organize Sufism and folk-religious practices. The chapters cover: the orders and movements their social base organization and institutionalization recruitment-patterns in new environments channels of disseminating ideas, such as ritual, charisma, and organization reasons for their popularity among certain social groups the nature of their affiliation with the countries of their origin. Providing a fascinating insight into how Sufism operates within different spheres of society, Sufism in the West is essential reading for students and academics with research interests in Islam, Islamic history and social anthropology. Theology Without Walls: the Transreligious Imperative
Thinking about ultimate reality is becoming increasingly transreligious. This transreligious turn follows inevitably from the discovery of divine truths in multiple traditions. Global communications bring the full range of religious ideas and practices to anyone with access to the internet. Moreover, the growth of the “nones” and those who describe themselves as “spiritual but not religious” creates a pressing need for theological thinking not bound by prescribed doctrines and fixed rituals. This book responds to this vital need. The chapters in this volume each examine the claim that if the aim of theology is to know and articulate all we can about the divine reality, and if revelations, enlightenments, and insights into that reality are not limited to a single tradition, then what is called for is a theology without confessional restrictions. In other words, a Theology Without Walls. To ground the project in examples, the volume provides emerging models of transreligious inquiry. It also includes sympathetic critics who raise valid concerns that such a theology must face. This is a book that will be of urgent interest to theologians, religious studies scholars, and philosophers of religion. It will be especially suitable for those interested in comparative theology, inter-religious and interfaith understanding, new trends in constructive theology, normative religious studies, and global philosophy of religion. Pleasing God
Life is full of choices. In an average day, a woman must wrestle with a number of questions. Am I using my time wisely? Should I be doing something more, or something better? Is the activity I want to do right, or is it wrong? These questions can complicate your life and leave you feeling overwhelmed. But what if you narrowed that long list of choices to just one? What if all your decisions were governed by one simple question: Dose this please God? In Pleasing God, Kay Smith exhorts and encourages women to think of God first and to live with His pleasure uppermost in mind. In a style that is uniquely Kay, candid, humorous, firm, but also compassionate, this beloved teacher reveals the secret to a simplified life, living it as a fragrant offering to God. Learn how to put sin in its place, yield to the Holy Spirit, praise God through trials, and offer Him even the smallest part of your life as an act of worship. You’ve been given one life. The choice of what you do with it belongs to you. You can live it unto yourself, pursuing your own pleasure, or you can offer it back to the One who breathed life into you, redeemed you from hell, and gave you the promise of heaven. Holiness: for the Will of God Is Your Sanctification – 1 Thessalonians 4:3 [annotated, Updated]
A thorough study of sin, salvation by faith, and the Christian’s journey of sanctification. He who wants a correct understanding of holiness must first begin by examining the vast and solemn subject of sin. He must dig down very deep if he wants to build high. Wrong views about holiness are generally traceable to wrong views about human corruption. Practical holiness and entire self-consecration to God are not given adequate attention by modern Christians. The unsaved sometimes rightly complain that Christians are not as kind and unselfish and good-natured as those who make no profession of faith. Far too many Christians make a verbal proclamation of faith, yet remain unchanged in heart and lifestyle. But Scripture makes it clear that holiness, in its place and proportion, is quite as important as justification. Holiness, without which no one shall see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14). It is imperative that Christians are biblically and truly holy. The aim of this book is to instruct you, equip you, and encourage you in the pursuit of holiness. About the AuthorJohn Charles Ryle (1816-1900) graduated from Eton and Oxford and then pursued a career in politics, but due to lack of funds, he entered the clergy of the Church of England. He was a contemporary of Spurgeon, Moody, Mueller, and Taylor and read the great theologians like Wesley, Bunyan, Knox, Calvin, and Luther. These all influenced Ryle’s understanding and theology. Ryle began his writing career with a tract following the Great Yarmouth suspension bridge tragedy, where more than a hundred people drowned. He gained a reputation for straightforward preaching and evangelism. He travelled, preached, and wrote more than 300 pamphlets, tracts, and books, including Expository Thoughts on the Gospels, Principles for Churchmen, and Christian Leaders of the Eighteenth Century. Ryle used the royalties from his writing to pay his father’s debts, but he also felt indebted to that ruin for changing the direction of his life. He was recommended by Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli to be Bishop of Liverpool where he ended his career in 1900. Read more$0.00$17.99 -
Has the Bible Been Changed?: the Reliability of the Scriptures According to Jewish, Christian, and Islamic Sources
Muslims all over the world are ignoring the message of the New Testament because their teachers say its text has been corrupted. Yet very few of them have checked to see whether what their teachers say is true.– David Byle, chairman of the Bible Correspondence Course in Turkey (bccturkey.org) What does it take to persuade an entire Islamic nation to recall and rewrite their religious education materials in order to no longer teach that the Bible has been changed? Only one thing: the Qur’an itself. The Qur’an clearly states that the Bible has not been changed and, even more shockingly, says that anyone who teaches that the Bible has been changed is in fact doomed to hell. This book, Has the Bible Been Changed?, was the reason that in 1996 the Department of Religious Affairs in Turkey recalled their existing teaching materials. As you explore these pages, you will see exactly what the Qur’an says that is so powerful that even Islamic leaders are caused to reverse course. But this book is not persuasive with many words. Rather, it shows the reader Scripture verses and other pertinent facts that will help lead one to the ultimate Truth, that there is indeed only one God, and the way to Him is through His Son, Jesus Christ. It behooves you to read this book to know that you can put your faith and confidence in the entire Bible, that it is indeed the unchangeable, inerrant Word of God. And we did give Moses the guidance and made the Children of Israel to inherit the Scripture. A guide and a reminder for men of understanding (Mu’min 40:53-54). About the AuthorDan Wickwire was born in California in 1951 and grew up in the city of Bakersfield.
